Re: [BASEunited] UHUCK 2.0
Yo!
Not that anyone is ever going to get a permit in this lifetime (except me and the friends I invite in about 10 years when I'm retired (not really)), but I deal with the Fed govt on a daily basis. If you have questions on how Fed.gov works, I can probably answer a lot of those questions, but I check this site almost never. Unfortunately, the vast majority of US voters seem to have virtually no idea (including many on this website) on how their govt actually works, unfortunately.
All that being said, I think the best chance to get a permit that anyone had in recent years was Dean Potter, but that's not going to happen now, unfortunately. If there's a current, famous, well known climber who's also a jumper and inhabitant of the valley, I hope they're building rapport and leveraging any sponsors to make a difference in the park. (Or redbull could probably do it in a month like they did on sacred Native American lands.) In my opinion, and it today's world, its just not going to happen (except redbull) if someone hasn't supplied a very real, and long-term benefit to the park. Not that anyone or any organization shouldn't keep trying. Or if you have millions of dollars to throw away on buying politicians, of course that could work too.
Good luck! If you ever get a chance to talk with 38 on this subject, please do so. Was enlightening for me many years ago!
