Re: [Hanzo] Adrenalin Addiction
Welcome to BASE jumping. A sport with no rules, but where everyone will tell you that everything you're doing wrong.
People spewing hate at you isn't going to help and shouldn't be payed much attention too, but there are people out there that will give you honest advice to help you live your dreams.
I think you've got balls for starting out the way you did and talent from some of the shit I've seen you pull, but lack a bit of guidance and mentor ship. That stuff doesn't cost shit either, so there really shouldn't be an excuse. Just ask around.
My honest suggestion to you would be to get some more training in both skydiving and BASE. Being "broke" is a bullshit excuse. We all know that there is always a way...
example:
Cheap hop'n' pops to learn more canopy skills.
Listening to those that have been in your shoes before and have your best interest in mind. (Totally Free)
Mastering the little things, before concurring the world ( 85 jumps is really and hopefully just a drop in the bucket of what you will achieve)
Secondly, as cool as pulling a quad off tombstone is, would you have had the knowledge or canopy skills to get yourself out of a situation, such as a 180, line twist, emergency shit landing area after that opening shock with the skill and knowledge you currently have? I'm sure you're saying yes, but I honestly doubt you do. With all the combine canopy experience you claim, it will be all luck and as well all know, luck runs out at some point or another. Take it form me, I thought the same when I first started and it came back to bite HARD! 21st jump, thought I was cool, did a front flip, 180 cliff strike, broke my left tibia and shattered my left heel. 800 jumps later, triples of tombstone with ease and confidence, but from taking small steps, consistent training and experience. Good thing I have Canadian health care cause I was also "broke" at the time. What would happen to you if you couldn't walk for 4 months and needed a few surgeries with the US health system? Just something to think about.
A little bit of easing into it will go a long way. Again, this is coming from experience. You want to stack steps that you've already learned or dealt with on top of others steps to reach those big goals. Just like climbing a ladder. One rung at a time. It makes it easier than having to do a massive blind leap to get to try and catch that top rung. That may sound cheesy, but if you start thinking of the bigger picture in a way like that, you will understand the importance of training, experience and time in the sport.
I can see a desire and passion that you have for BASE. That's a good thing, but there are mental, emotional, hormonal and ego's, ect., that can really hinder what you envision yourself doing. A lot to take in at the start... and the start may go on for hundreds and hundreds of jumps.
Take a deep breath....hope to see you on an exit someday.
Feel free to PM me if you would like any free advice or anything.
Peace
enjoy life
