Packing BASE canopy to a skydiving rig

Hi,

I want to do hop and pops with my BASE canopy. I got it with a larger mesh slider and inverted risers with mini rings. Just want to confirm that I simply connect risers to the skydiving harness, connect a pilot chute from the container and PRO pack it to the bag like a skydiving canopy.

Would it be possible to do a terminal opening with large mesh slider?

yep, yep, yep, and yep. But how will you make it fit? And from an airplane a sail or small mesh is better in my opinion because you'll be opening so high there is no need to worry about opening speed. Save thy body, Plus the extra reefing from a slider with less porosity is easier on the gear, but the gear is made to take more all-around opening forces so as long as you always inspect your shit you should be fine. Have fun.

You can use the BASE-bridle and PC also (32-36).
But I don't understand why you want to use a bag.

Roll the nose on the first few jumps if you take it to terminal, some people say BASE canopys open "hard"

just free pack it in the container, no bag.

if youre using a sail slider (to my understanding) you wont *really* get an idea of how the canopy opens on a base jump. The whole idea (just in my opinion) is to see how the canopy flies/lands/set deep brakes/etc..

With that said, when I jumped my base canopy in a sky rig, I got a very large container and lengthened the loop to make it fit with a bag. You can free pack, but the bag will slow down the opening a little along with the sail slider to make the opening very much like a skydiving canopy.

I was also told that using a bag will reduce a little stress on the canopy possibly reducing wear and tear.

if you have a rig big enough to use a bag, I would use one. Unless you want to feel what a terminal opening feels like, in which case throw on your mesh slider and free pack it.
