Re: [vanair] Norway
Nearest Terminal cliffs in Oslo is in Romsdal (google it), but you need to know local base jumpers to get to the exits, it's very easy to get lost up there as the hiking path are not marked up like Kjerag..
Kjerag is as expensive as you make it,, depend where you are staying, buy all the food at camping
or the cheap way; buy it in the market in Stavanger city before you arrive, if you like beer or boz, I recommend you buy it before you arrive at Lysebotn/kjerag aswell, as the pub's in ALL of Norway will get you bank robbed, if you gonna continuously have drinks at the bar(just my 2cents).
As for the BASE jumping at Kjerag,,,Stavanger BASE Klubb is a volunteer group, that runs Buses to drive all of the jumpers up to where the 2 hour hiking path starts,, and when you land on the LZ, preferably if you don't want to swim 30minutes back to your site in icecold saltwater and holding on to your canopy while gobbling for air, they have a boat waiting to pick you all up.
So that's why they have the regi fee+ boat/bus fee..
..Gas is not for free. Especially not in Norway.
As for BASE specific gear, common?!! We are in 2011, this is not Bridge Day sorry..
The landing area at Kjerag is tight with big boulder rocks,so you don't want to mess up your landings.
And if you actually get your track going , you are NOT gonna pull at 1500ft trust me.. You are gonna go low and dirty So hope this answers it all,, and if you still think it's expensive, you should consider to travel to Brento, as the wine there is cheaper then a bottle of water
